Why is the route information incorrect?

Modified on Mon, 11 Nov, 2024 at 3:26 PM

Route information on Flightradar24 may occasionally be incorrect because route data is not transmitted directly from the aircraft. Instead, we receive the call sign from the aircraft and match it with databases of airline and airport schedules to determine the route.

Here are some common reasons why a route might display incorrectly:

  • Changed Flight Plans: The flight may have had a last-minute route change.

  • Incorrect or Old Call Sign: The crew may have entered an outdated or incorrect call sign into the transponder.

  • Database Errors: There may be an error in one of the scheduling databases we rely on.

  • Long Flight Delays: A significant delay can cause the flight to be matched with an incorrect schedule.

We appreciate your understanding and are always working to improve data accuracy. Please reach out if you have further questions!
